Parents Asked To Check Their Homes

If you’ve got young kids, it might be worth checking the toy drawer today.

An urgent recall has been issued for an 8.5 inch LCD Writing Tablet sold across Australia after fears children could gain access to the button battery inside. The tablets were sold in assorted colours between January and May 2026 at Boutique Retail Group stores, including Toymate, Toyworld, Go! Stores and other independent toy retailers.

Why It’s Being Recalled

The concern is that the battery compartment may not be secure enough, meaning children could remove and swallow the button battery.

While small, button batteries can be incredibly dangerous. If swallowed, they can cause severe internal burns in as little as two hours and, in some cases, can be fatal.

What You Should Do

Anyone who owns one of the recalled tablets should stop using it immediately and keep it out of reach of children.

Consumers are being urged to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

If you think your child may have swallowed a button battery, seek emergency medical attention immediately. Don’t wait for symptoms to appear, as internal injuries can happen quickly.
