OG Yellow Wiggle Greg Page was in the middle of a reunion show several years ago when suddenly on stage he suffered a cardiac arrest that was caused by a heart attack. His heart stopped beating mid show and he collapsed, thankfully there were people nearby who were able to jumpstart his heart with an AED and saved his life. Terrifyingly the odds that Greg would survive this event were not high, truth is that 9 in 10 people will not survive cardiac arrest, but thankfully there were medical professionals present to assist Greg and had access to an AED nearby.
Greg used this event to to help build Heart of the Nation, an organistion focused on bringing attention to and informing others on the risks of cardiac arrests and its high mortality rate, as well as, educating people on the importance of knowing CPR and having access to an AED.
Greg now goes school to school to help educate children on how to save lives if the time comes. Firmly believing that education on saving lives needs to start in schools as 80% of cardiac arrests happen at home and every family member needs to know how to react at any given moment.
Greg Page jumped onto Wiggle Talk, a podcast hosted by Purple Wiggle Lachie and Red Wiggle Simon to talk about his experience of the event and how he’s now used it to start Heart of the Nation.
