PlaySide Studios has announced Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, an exciting new real-time strategy (RTS) game set in the epic world of HBO’s Emmy® and Golden Globe® award-winning drama series, Game of Thrones. Drawing inspiration from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, this game will immerse players in the battle for the Iron Throne like never before. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is set to launch globally in 2026.
Developed and published by PlaySide Studios (Australia’s largest independent video game developer), and officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of HBO®, this premium PC game offers a true real-time strategy experience in the vast and dramatic world of Westeros.
In War for Westeros, players will lead the armies of House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or the Night King in ruthless free-for-all battles where trust is fleeting and power is everything. Engaging in epic real-time strategy battles, forging strategic alliances, and weaving deceit against rival forces will be key. Each faction offers deeply asymmetric strategies, with signature heroes, armies, and mechanics forged from the brutal legacy of Westeros. Players can deploy infantry, cavalry, siege engines, giants, and dragons to break enemy lines as they work to outplay and outmaneuver rivals with inspiring hero abilities and the ruthless instincts of a true war commander.
