Bottle-o thief bumps cars before arrest

A man has been charged after robbing a bottle shop while armed with a firearm then driving off and crashing into four parked cars near Fremantle.

Police said a 34-year-old man allegedly stole a bottle of alcohol around 10am on Sunday on Lefroy road, Beaconsfield before fleeing the scene by car.

The alleged thief was driving erratically at 11.45am near Lancelin Way in North Coogee when he crashed against four parked cars, injuring himself before being arrested.

A 'gel' gun and a knife were found during a search of the vehicle and the man was taken to Fiona Stanley hospital, police said.

He will appear in court at a later date facing three charges of armed robbery, reckless driving, and property damage.
