Police are trying to track down a teenage boy and the owner of a dog, following an alleged assault on Magnetic Island.

Investigators says a boy, believed to be in his teens, attacked a middle-aged woman at Nelly Bay on Sunday, October 31.

The incident allegedly happened on the footpath off Sooning Street, between the cemetery and ferry terminal roundabout between 7am and 8am.

The boy was walking a dog at the time.

It's described as being a collie-cross, possibly with a dalmatian, with silver/grey mid-long hair and a number of blacks spots on its side.

Anyone who has any information that may identify the boy or owner of the dog is asked to contact police.
