Moderna vaccine rolls out at Townsville pharmacies
North Queensland's COVID-19 vaccination rollout has hit a new milestone.
The Moderna jab is now available at some pharmacies in the region, including Cate's Chemist in Townsville.
Owner Cate Whalan says they received their first doses late last week.
"We had a wait list actually at both stores prior to even receiving the vaccine, so as soon as it hit the ground we were able to start calling patients to let them know," Ms Whalan says.
"We've hit the ground running basically."
While it's only been a couple of days, Ms Whalan says uptake has been "really good".
"Both our Hyde Park and our Garbutt stores have got stock.
"Depending on how much we're using, we're able to get re-supplied weekly so it's not like we're going to run out any time soon."
A few kids have also come in for their Moderna jab, with the vaccine approved for those aged 12 and up.
"I think because it's also school holidays, parents are finding it a really good time to sort of tick those things off the list."
