Townsville police have arrested two people in relation to a series of stolen cars incidents, where one vehicle was destroyed by fire early this morning.

Emergency services were called to car fire at Douglas at about 3.30am where they found a stolen Mitsubishi Lancer engulfed in flames.

About 10 minutes later, officers deployed a tyre deflation device to try and stop a Jeep Cherokee in Condon, which was allegedly stolen from a home on Tern Court.

It was found abandoned in Kirwin a short time later.

Police alleged two passengers in the Jeep were then picked up by a stolen Chrysler, which was later crashed into a fence nearby.

They say the occupants ran from the scene.

Shortly after, police were called to a home on Riverwalk Way in Douglas, where a resident was allegedly assaulted before his car was stolen.

The victim was taken to the Townsville University Hospital with minor injuries.

An 18-year-old man and 17-year-old-woman are assisting police.

It is believed several other people were involved.

Investigations are ongoing.
