Wildlife officers have located a crocodile that may have been involved in the disappearance of a man missing off Hinchinbrook Island.

A four-metre crocodile was located this afternoon near where the missing man’s vessel was found.

Officers have humanely euthanised the animal and it has been transported back to the mainland.

This comes after human remains were discovered overnight.

Officers are continuing to assist the Queensland Police Service with its investigation.

The Department of Environment and Science has deployed a number of resources including four vessels, 15 wildlife officers, drones, traps and other equipment used to capture a crocodile.

Locals are being reminded Cr to report any sightings immediately through the QWildlife app. For more info: https://environment.des.qld.gov.au/wildlife/animals/living-with/crocodiles/croc-wise
