A Townsville man has discovered he has won the lotto after finally checking his ticket, that was sitting on his kitchen bench for a week.

The man was lost for words after finding out he was $1 million richer.

He held one of three, division one winning entries in Monday and Wednesday's Gold Lotto draw 4049, which was drawn on February 3.

The winner says the prize will help him live a normal happy life without having to worry about the small things.

He says he only checked his ticket because he was heading to the shops.

“Life will be a lot easier. It will really take the pressure off," the new millionaire says.

The Lott says it is the third division one win to land in Townsville in ten days.

It comes after a Townsville man took home $1 million in Monday and Wednesday's Gold Lotto draw 4047 and a local couple scored a division one prize in Saturday's Gold Lotto draw 4123.
