Police operation leads to more arrests

There has been more arrests as part of Operation Sierra Silhouette.

These school holidays, Townsville police are cracking down on property crime, car theft, burglary, drugs and wilful damage.

Townsville has seen close to a 30 per cent decrease in reported crime since the launch of the operation.

Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon said to date, 70 adults and 12 juveniles have been arrested and face a combined 306 charges.

"That includes the closure of a drug operation," he said.

"He have also undertaken in excess of 2,000 roadside breath tests."
