Police have charged a boy following an incident on Old Common Road, Belgian Gardens on Sunday morning.

Police will allege that around 7:30am, a boy climbed on top of a water tower and threw rocks at vehicles driving on Old Common Road, resulting in damage to a vehicle’s windscreen.

It will be further alleged that the boy damaged parts of the structure including the roof sheets and a roof vent.

The boy eventually complied and came down from the roof where he was arrested and transported to the Townsville Watchhouse.

A 17-year-old Garbutt boy was charged with two counts wilful damage and one count each of unregulated high-risk activities and public nuisance, and will be appearing in the Townsville Children’s Court.
