Townsville's budget revealed
There will be rate relief for Townsville residents with the 2020-2021 budget revealed.
Owner-occupiers have been handed a rates freeze for the next six months, but will see their water, wheelie bin and landfill fees jump by 5 per cent.
$221.9 million is going towards infrastructure projects with another $15 million providing COVID-19 support.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the budget will aim to help the community get back on track.
"The pandemic has literally slowed down the economy. It is starting to pick up again, we're seeing some really good signs," Cr Hill said.
"We've tried to frame the budget so that there's a benefit to everyone in the community."
