The Review into Townsville's jail finalised

An independent internal review into Townsville's scandal-plagued jail has now been finalised.

The review, which was announced in January this year, looked into bringing about change, in what prison officers had described as a "toxic" workplace.

Commissioner Peter Martin said the report provided officers an opportunity to raise concerns and a number of recommendations would now be introduced

"The universal view of the 79 officers that came forward and participated in the review that they have seen demonstrable moves forward in many of the issues the raised in the review report," Commissioner Martin said.
The Commissioner however could not confirm when the sacked Gerneral Manger would return.
"The former GM will not be returning to Townsville correctional centre," Commissioner Martin said.
"The former GM is the subject of disciplinary investigation currently but that is ongoing and regrettably I can not talk about that further until that matter is resolved."
