Chinook Helicopters Deployed To Bushfire Ravaged Kangaroo Island

21 people have been sent to Kangaroo Island in South Australia to help out during the bushfire crisis.

They flew down two CH-47F Chinook helicopters from Townsville’s 5th Aviation Regiment.

The Chinook is able to carry up to 100 people (standing room only) during an emergency.

The group has been conducting movement of disaster support personnel, supplies, fodder distribution to isolated livestock or areas inaccessible by road, rotation of Fire Services teams and movement of Disaster Response officials to survey the damage and critical areas.
