Fatal Crash, Woodstock
UPDATE | A 69-year-old woman, a passenger in a single vehicle crash last Wednesday, has died in Townsville Hospital.
Preliminary information suggests that at around 2.40PM a truck towing a car trailer was travelling east along the Flinders Highway when it collided with a guard rail at Woodstock.
A 69-year-old woman from Roseneath sustained serious leg injuries. The driver, a 70-year-old Roseneath man was not injured.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vision to please contact police.
EARLIER | The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a crash on Flinders Highway, Woodstock, via Townsville on Thursday.
Preliminary investigations indicate that around 2:40pm a three tonne Toyota Dyna truck, towing a car trailer containing a shell of a VW Golf, was travelling east from Charters Towers along Flinders Highway.
Upon approaching the intersection of Giru Woodstock Road, the truck blew a tyre, causing it to drift onto the incorrect side of the road, hitting into a guard rail and causing it to spin before coming to rest.
The passenger side of the vehicle sustained the most damage, resulting in the 69-year-old female passenger sustaining severe injuries as a result.
The 70-year-old male driver suffered severe shock but was not physically injured.
Police are encouraging anyone who has any information about the crash or who has dash-cam footage, to contact Policelink on 131 444.
