Townsville Police, Senior Constable Naomi White and Senior Constable Mel Whitby recently visited Blue Skies kindergarten to talk to some eager kindy kids.

Senior Constable Whitby said she loves creating positive relationships with community members, especially kids who are interested in the role police officers play.

“These opportunities give officers great pleasure to mix with different schools and community groups,” Senior Constable Whitby said.

“We love interacting with members of our community, especially with kids early in life.”

Senior Constable White and Senior Constable Whitby had a great time talking with the kids and discussing personal safety, traffic awareness and road safety.

But it was the lights and sirens of the police vehicle that stole the show.

The children also had a lot of interest in the police uniform and accoutrements that police wear on their vests.

Senior Constable White said that visits like this are a valuable community engagement tool as it allows police officers to interact with young children and highlight the importance of police in our community.

“Overall, it was a happy day and the kids seemed to get a lot from our visit,” Senior Constable White said.
