Stop Adani protestors will be out in force at local polling booths on Saturday.

Climate change has been a defining issue of the Federal election campaign, with stopping Adani becoming the litmus test for climate leadership.

Activists will target the seats of Dawson and Herbert this weekend.

Students, grandparents, parents, local business owners and more will work in priority electorates, engaging with voters to ensure climate change is front of mind as people cast their vote.

Booths will be alight with #StopAdani posters, and volunteers will hand out scorecards and flyers.

Election day activities are being organised by the over 190 local #StopAdani groups, the Australian Conservation Foundation, the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, GetUp, the Australian Marine Conservation Society, the Mackay Conservation Group, the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change and the School Strike 4 Climate movement.

Some examples of election campaign activity:

  • the Stop Adani movement organised 30 candidate forums in key electorates, where 25 Labor candidates have expressed opposition to Adani
  • the Australian Conservation Foundation has had over 195,000 conversations and more than 100,000 people have said they’ll be climate voters
  • school strikers and Australian Youth Climate Coalition volunteers together will distribute 50,000+ climate scorecards on polling day, including young people handing out renewables scorecards in Townsville
  • the Defend our Water - Not one Drop for Adani community action group has organised a daily presence at pre-poll in Mackay and plans a prominent election day presence at a number of booths
