Voting Plan For Flood Affected Locals

Voting AEC By Australian Electoral Commission - CC BY 3.0.jpg

The Australian Electoral Commission is encouraging people affected by the Townsville floods to check their enrolment before the federal election on Saturday
18 May 2019.

Australian Electoral Officer for Queensland, Thomas Ryan, said all residents who are currently living in temporary accommodation due to flooding should continue to be
enrolled at their usual address.

“If you are absent from the address that appears on the electoral roll for a period of time but have an intention to return to that address, you do not need to update your
enrolment.”

“In the event that your temporary accommodation has become a more permanent arrangement, you should update your enrolment,” Mr Ryan said.

Mr Ryan also urged people already on the electoral roll and not affected by the floods, but who had moved since the 2016 federal election, to update their address details
online.

“Anyone who is unsure about their enrolment details should act and check immediately online at www.aec.gov.au or call 13 23 26.

You can update your details online.

You can also get a paper form from:

- any AEC office
- some Australia Post outlets.

Or you can print an enrolment form from the website.

Completed enrolment forms must be returned in person to an AEC office or uploaded online by 8pm Thursday 18 April.
