Youths making up majority of Townsville property offenders

There continues to be an overrepresentation of youth offenders in Townsville.

Simultaneous policing operations Cygnus and Casuarina, have seen more than 1,140 people charged with 3,417 offences so far this year.

Of those, 260 adults were have been charged with more than 1,000 offences, while 778 juveniles have been charged with nearly 2,100 offences.

The operations are targeting known repeat property crime offenders and further disrupting their use of stolen vehicles.
