A woman has been rescued from a unit fire in West End Last night, with police now investigating the cause – calling it suspicious.
Emergency services were called to Percy Street just after 9pm where two units were ablaze. Officers heard a female screaming, who was trapped in the second unit, and forcibly gained entry to rescue the 54-year-old West End woman. She was taken to Townsville University Hospital l to be treated for smoke inhalation, along with a number of officers – thankfully no one else was injured.
A crime scene has been set up – police are asking anyone with information or CCTV to come forward.
