Townsville is about to see one of its biggest housing moves in years, with a long‑idle block of land next to Pimlico TAFE finally being unlocked and it could pave the way for up to 150 new homes.
The 4.5‑hectare site is now being cleared as part of the state’s new Land Activation Program, which aims to fast‑track housing by turning unused government land into development‑ready sites.
Demolition work is already underway, and the land is expected to hit the market by mid‑2026. Local developers are being urged to register their interest early, with the site flagged as one of the first in Queensland to roll out under the program.
