Police are investigating after a taxi driver was stabbed at Hermit Park this morning.
Emergency services were called to Carr Street around 3:20am following reports the male driver had sustained a stab wound after a man armed with a bladed weapon attempted to rob him.
The driver reversed away and the offender fled the scene.
The injured man alerted police to the incident, with officers finding the 69-year-old man with serious injuries.
He was transported to the Townsville University Hospital.
A crime scene has been declared at Carr Street, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dashcam in the area around the time of the wounding to make contact.
