North Queensland has officially cemented its status as the nation’s beer heartland, with new data revealing locals buy a higher share of beer than anywhere else in Australia — and it’s not even close.

The State of the Hops Report, drawing on sales from Dan Murphy’s and BWS, shows Queensland leads the country in beer purchases. And the top four beer‑loving postcodes in Australia are all in North Queensland.

Charters Towers takes the crown, with a massive 64% of all alcohol sales being beer. Mount Isa, Bowen and Ingham round out the top four, proving the North’s love for a cold one is unmatched.

And it doesn’t stop there — Mareeba, Cardwell, Goondiwindi and Cloncurry also make the national top 20, giving the North a commanding presence on the leaderboard.
