New tech put to the test as 3RAR take town in Talisman Sabre war games

Around 600 soldiers have descended on Line Creek Junction, securing the site and pushing back enemy forces in a simulated war game at the Townsville Field Training Area. It’s all part It’s all part of the massive multi-national exercise, with soldiers from the Aus Army’s 3rd Battalion dealing with casualties, minefields, snipers, prisoners, even media and civilians running around all to replicate the heat and chaos of battle.

The battleground providing the perfect place for the army to test out new cutting-edge tech like the Modular Robotic Vehicle (MRV) based on the M113 armored personnel carrier.

With 40 thousand troops from 19 allied nations- across the Army, Navy and Airforce – Talisman Sabre is the largest defence exercise to take place on Aussie soil.

With less than a fortnight to go, exercises across the state, and regional Australia are set to wrap up. The ADF will thank locals at a community day hosted at Riverway NEXT Saturday.
