A 26-year-old man has been shot by police at a Mount Louisa residence.
Officers were called to a Payne Street address at 12.10am on Sunday following reports of a mental health incident.
Police say they arrived around 1.15am where the man was allegedly armed with a knife and threatened them.
Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Lawson says the man advanced towards officers.
“Police attempted to utilise a taser to disarm this man, however this was in-affective and as a result he was shot.
“Police performed immediate first aid and tried to render assistance, with the assistance of QAS.
“However it was unsuccessful and the man unfortunately passed away.”
The incident is under investigation by the Ethical Standards Command on behalf of the State Coroner, with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
