A young man is recovering after a crocodile attack at a creek near Ingham on Tuesday.

Paramedics were called to Ingham Forest Beach Road at Victoria Plantation just before 9am, where they found the man in his twenties suffering puncture wounds to his lower back, upper legs and hand.

He was initially taken to Ingham Hospital in a stable condition before being airlifted to Townsville by rescue helicopter for further treatment.

The incident has reignited debate around crocodile management in North Queensland. Kennedy MP Bob Katter says the attack highlights long‑standing frustrations in the region, arguing that northern communities shouldn’t be governed by rules made in the state’s southeast.

Authorities continue to urge residents to remain “crocwise” around creeks, rivers and coastal areas, particularly after heavy rain or flooding when crocodile movement increases.
