One driver is dead and another injured, following a fatal crash on the Bruce Highway near the Mullers Conn Range Track, between Townsville and Cairns.
Police are investigating what caused the fatal collision between a grey Holden Sedan and a Scania G450 prime mover in Rungoo, north of Ingham (20km south of Cardwell at the foot of the Cardwell Range) around 12:45pm yesterday.
The driver of the holden, and single occupant of the vehicle, was declared dead at the scene. The 59-year-old Kullogum man, behind the wheel of the people mover, escaped with minor injuries.
Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have relevant dashcam or CCTV video footage to contact police.
