Drug Operation Skylark, Kirwan

Townsville police successfully executed multiple warrants during Operation Skylark in Kirwan last week.

On August 16, police from Kirwan station with the assistance of the Townsville Tactical Crime Squad and the Townville Dog Squad executed seven warrants around Townsville.

Approximately 3.4kg of cannabis with an estimated value of more than $71,000 was seized, as well as $72,360 in cash suspected to be proceeds of drug offences.

Five men and a woman have been charged with a range of drug offences.

 

A 42-year-old Rasmussen man was charged with two counts of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils and receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying. He appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court on August 18 and was remanded in custody to reappear on September 1.

A 40-year-old Vincent man was charged with possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils. He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on September 1.

A 20-year-old Heatley man was charged with nine counts of supplying dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and buying or possessing medicines or hazardous poisons. He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on September 15.

A 25-year-old Townsville City man was charged with 20 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and one count each of possessing drug utensils and receiving tainted property. He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on August 30.

A 33-year-old Kelso woman was charged with two counts of possessing drug utensils and one count each of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and buying or possessing medicines or hazardous poisons. She is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on September 9.

A 20-year-old Kelso man was charged with two counts of possessing drug utensils and one count of possessing dangerous drugs. He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on August 31.

Acting Sergeant Carlo Louwrens thanked the community for their ongoing reporting of criminal activity.

“These dangerous drugs have a ripple effect, often resulting in other serious offences and harm to the community.”

Investigations are still ongoing, and more charges are expected.
