Victory slipped through the Cowboys’ fingers in Sydney, going down to Parramatta by just one point in the Round 23 NRL clash.

Eels halfback Mitchell Moses nailed a late field goal to edge his side ahead 19–18. North Queensland’s Jake Clifford looked to have stolen the win with a try seconds before full time – but was denied by the referees after Moses was obstructed.

Cowboys coach Todd Payten said it was “the little details” that cost his side, while also noting the Eels playmaker was “up to his old tricks.”

It was a much better night for the Cowboys NRLW team, who fought back from 10–nil down to claim a 14–10 victory over Parramatta. Winger Fran Goldthorpe scored twice and said she was proud of the side’s comeback, crediting a strong new combination with centre Jasmine Peters.

The Cowboys men will look to bounce back next week, while the NRLW side builds momentum from their gutsy win.
