The recent wet weather has kept Council workers on their toes, repairing potholes and clearing blocked drains.
Since January 13, Townsville City Council’s construction and maintenance teams have repaired 187 potholes, including 67 that were reported by members of the community.
Mayor Jenny Hill says they have increased their crews to help keep the community safe on the road.
“After the damage caused by the heavy rain conditions, we increased the crews that were working on potholes from our regular one to five dedicated crews,” Cr Hill says.
“We had great support from our community in reporting potholes and our teams worked diligently to repair them right around the city.”
Council teams were also kept busy with drain clearing works in recent weeks, with 23 known higher risk areas inspected before and after rain for blockages and clear flow.
67 drains were cleared as a result.
Residents are being urged to report any potholes or weather damaged roads to Council.
