Townsville will take centre stage this September as Queensland secures the only two Socceroos’ home games after the 2026 FIFA World Cup — including a blockbuster clash against Brazil at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on 25 September.
The fixture is part of a two‑match series played exclusively in Queensland, with the second game set for Brisbane. The Townsville match is expected to deliver a major tourism boost for North Queensland, with both national teams also taking part in community events, public training sessions and local club engagement programs.
Premier David Crisafulli says the series is part of the Government’s continued push to become Australia’s events capital.
“We said we’d bring more world-class events to Queensland, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with this blockbuster Socceroos series,” Premier Crisafulli said.
“We’re delivering a boon for Townsville with a mega-match and local club engagement, delivering an incredible tourism boost with the eyes of the world on North Queensland.
“With the ANZAC Day Bledisloe, Magic Round, Queensland Day Mega Round of Sports, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and Bluey’s World, the major events momentum is building.
“We are purposefully building a pipeline of major events to support jobs, attract visitors and deliver long-term benefits for all of Queensland.”
Football Australia says hosting Brazil is a significant moment for fans, offering rare access to one of the world’s most recognised football nations. Tickets go on presale July 1, with general release from 1pm on July 2.
