Townsville is finally getting its long‑awaited airport bus, with the Crisafulli Government confirming a brand‑new service will launch by the end of the month.
The new Route 222 will run hourly from 4am to 11pm, connecting Townsville Airport directly with the CBD, The Strand, the Breakwater ferry terminal and Palmer Street. The service is designed to ease pressure on travellers who’ve faced long taxi waits, especially during peak flight times.
With the LNP’s Permanent 50 Cent Fares, the trip will cost just 50 cents, making it one of the cheapest airport links in Queensland. Local leaders say the service will improve accessibility for visitors, support airport workers and strengthen Townsville’s growing tourism economy.
The full timetable will be released closer to launch, with services expected to begin before June 29.
