The battle no one saw coming might officially be here: Pope Leo XIV vs Artificial Intelligence.
In his first major teaching as Pope Leo, has issued a serious warning about AI, saying the technology could become dangerous if humans lose control of it. And yes… it sounds a bit like the plot of a sci-fi movie.
“Disarm” The Machines
The Pope warned that AI could fuel misinformation, deepen inequality and even make war more dangerous through autonomous weapons systems. He reportedly called for the world to “disarm” AI before it turns humanity into passive followers of machines.
He also compared unchecked technology to the biblical Tower of Babel, basically humanity getting too cocky with its creations.

AI Is Officially In Trouble With The Pope
This isn’t the first time Pope Leo has taken aim at AI either. He’s previously warned priests not to use chatbots to write sermons and raised concerns about children relying too heavily on artificial intelligence.
Now, his latest teaching is putting Silicon Valley on notice, with calls for stronger regulation and more human oversight.
Humanity 1, Robots 0?
For now, ChatGPT isn’t being marched out of churches just yet. But one thing’s clear, the Vatican has officially entered the AI debate, and the Pope seems determined to make sure humans stay in charge.
