The Cowboys have announced a major leadership shake‑up, bringing some of the club’s biggest names back into key roles as they move to a new, unified structure.

Former player David Myles has been appointed Chair of the Football Club board, while long‑time administrator Micheal Luck has stepped into the CEO – Football role. Premiership greats Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott and Brent Tate are also joining the board, strengthening the club’s leadership with deep experience and strong ties to North Queensland.

The changes follow the creation of NQ Cowboys Limited, which brings the football club, leagues club, community foundation and NRL Cowboys House under one umbrella. The club says the move reflects how fans already see the organisation and sets it up for future growth.

Myles and Luck both have long histories with the Cowboys, and the club says their leadership, combined with the experience of Thurston, Scott and Tate, marks the start of a new era. The Cowboys are still searching for a Group CEO, but say the restructure shows they’re ready to build for the future.
