A 24-year-old Garbutt man is facing court this month, after police allegedly found a knife and drugs on him during a wanding operation at a Hermit Park bar.
The search took place just after 3am on October 1 as part of ongoing surge policing across Townsville.
The man was charged with possessing a knife in a public place and possessing dangerous drugs. He’s due to face the Townsville Magistrates Court on October 21.
Inspector Jason Shepherd said there’s no excuse for carrying a knife in a licensed venue and warned that wanding operations will continue under Jack’s Law, introduced after the fatal stabbing of Jack Beasley in 2019.
