Two men are facing a spate of serious charges following a string of violent incidents across Townsville.

Police intercepted them in a stolen ute on Wednesday night. The white Ford Ranger utility was allegedly stolen from River Park Drive in Annandale on August 6. Just hours later, police say it was used in a violent burglary in Railway Estate, where a 40-year-old man was attacked with a hammer during the theft of another vehicle – a silver Mazda Bravo. The victim was taken to Townsville University Hospital.

Investigators also allege the two men were behind an armed robbery in North Ward in the early hours of August 3. A 65-year-old woman was allegedly threatened with a knife before her car keys and mobile phone were stolen.

A 24-year-old Palm Island man faces 24 charges, including stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and robbery. Both were due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on August 7.

A 25-year-old woman was also charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and failing to dispose of a needle. She is due in court on August 21.
