Engineers Walk Off the Job Across Queensland Over Pay Parity Dispute

Around 450 engineers and technical professionals employed by Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) have downed tools today in a significant push for pay parity across the sector.

The industrial action, led by Professionals Australia, follows months of stalled pay negotiations with the state government. Workers are now rallying in key regional centres including Townsville, Cairns, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Rockhampton.

Sean Kelly from Professionals Australia’s Queensland branch said members are paid 15 to 20 per cent less than public sector engineers.
