There’s been a disturbing update with police confirming one person has died following a building fire at a backpackers in Bowen.
The alarm was raised on Gordon Street around 3:30 yesterday morning. The building was destroyed and while authorities initially thought everyone had evacuated safely until they made the grim discovery late yesterday.
A body was located at the property and a crime scene has been declared as forensic examination is working to identify them.
